Emily Brown Dance is a contemporary dance company based in Bath. The company creates accessible contemporary dance performances inspired by science and heritage. Emily Brown Dance has received funding in 2019 and 2020 from Arts Council England for the creation and development of their work Treasure.
The company’s first full-length work Lina premiered in Bath in March 2017, and touring in 2017 and 2018 in theatres and as a site-specific show at the Herschel Museum, Bath, supported by the Herschel Society.
Emily Brown Dance was previously named Forged Line Dance Company, until 2020.
About Emily
Artistic Director Emily is a choreographer and freelance dance artist based in Bath, UK.
Emily completed an MA in dance performance in 2012 at the University of Chichester. As part of mapdance company she performed work by Nigel Charnock, Saju Hari, Matteo Fargion and Detta Howe.
Emily has a background in both music and dance, and brings this dual experience to her work through a strong thread of collaboration across different art forms. Emily is passionate about dance performance being collaborative and inclusive at all levels.
Emily performs with other dance and performance artists, including Cie. Willi Dorner, Hannah Pickett Dance, 3rd Stage Dance Company CIC, Verity Standen and Rosemary Lee. She is also a community dance artist, teaching dance and leading creative sessions for adults and children across Bath, Bristol and Wiltshire.
